Darth Vader, first appearing in the movie *Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope*, is a central antagonist within the Star Wars saga. Born Anakin Skywalker, he was discovered as a young slave on Tatooine, possessing unusually strong abilities with the Force.

Trained as a Jedi, Anakin was prophesied to bring balance to the Force, but was plagued by fears of loss and forbidden attachments. These fears were exploited by Darth Sidious, who manipulated Anakin into falling to the dark side.

Following his turn, Anakin became Darth Vader, a powerful enforcer of the Galactic Empire. Clad in black armor with a distinctive breathing apparatus, Vader struck fear throughout the galaxy. He hunted down the remaining Jedi and served as second-in-command to Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious).

Ultimately, a spark of good remained within Vader. Through his son, Luke Skywalker's, unwavering faith, Vader was redeemed. He turned against Palpatine, sacrificing himself to destroy the Sith and restore balance to the Force.
